Boston Scientific stent sales part of federal probe
-Boston Business Journal
02/28/2008 - U.S. Justice Department officials are conducting a civil investigation of both Boston Scientific Corp. and other competitors regarding their sale of bile-duct stents.
The Natick, Mass., medical device company (NYSE: BSX) disclosed in a recent regulatory filing that the investigation is exploring whether Boston Scientific and other rivals promoted the sale of the stents for non-FDA approved indications.
Boston Scientific said it is cooperating and that no subpoenas have been issued, according to Bloomberg News.
The company announced earlier this week that federal regulators had issued marketing approvals for two different defibrillators and a patient-monitoring system.
