Pfizer yanked ads for its smoking cessation drug Chantix earlier this year because of safety concerns -- specifically, reports that taking the drug could lead to behavioral changes, depression and even suicidal thoughts in some patients.
But some ads are starting to resurface, with new precautionary language hammered out with federal regulators, according to eagle-eyed Mike Huckman of CNBC.
A Pfizer spokesman told Huckman the company is "exploring" advertising Chantix again in various print and TV outlets.
If you are currently taking Chantix and have concerns about its safety, you should consult with your doctor regarding your treatment options. Under no circumstances should you discontinue taking any medication, including Chantix, without first consulting with your doctor.
