A family is determined to get the word out about a hernia patch recall
-CBS News
6/10/2008- Last year, we told you about a local man who had a hernia patch put in, but a short time later, that patch had been recalled.
Since then, he has died from the infection.
Aaron Menendez went through two years of having a Bard Composix Kugel mesh patch in his body to repair a hernia, but that eventually lead to a serious infection.
Before Menendez died, his family researched and found there was a recall on the mesh patch. In fact, Aaron Menendez himself knew how bad it was and asked to have it removed.
Menendez's death in September was devastating for the his family, but it also was heartbreaking for the family to to receive the autopsy results stating the mesh was the cause of his death.
Rather than focusing on anger, the Menendez now is determined to let others know what they knew all along.
