Do You Have A Mirena IUD Claim?

- Ennis & Ennis News

02/07/2013 - Over the past few months, many women may have seen television and Internet ads regarding the Mirena IUD and its complications. This article is to provide users of the Mirena IUD information regarding why you may be entitled to compensation for injuries caused by this dangerous device. The Mirena IUD was first sold in the United States in 2001. It is a T-Shaped Polyethylene frame filled with 52 mg of Levonorgestrel, a hormone to help prevent pregnancy. About 20 micrograms are released in the uterus daily. It is unknown exactly how the Mirena works, but it is believed the device primarily prevents the sperm from fertilizing the egg by thickening of the cervical mucus, inhibiting sperm capacitation and survival and suppressing the endometrium (thinning the uterus lining). [1] Additionally, some women may not ovulate as a result of the absorption of the Levonorgestrel. [2]

There are many risks associated with the use of the Mirena. Although the product has shown considerable effectiveness, Mirena has been repeatedly linked to several significant side effects, including: perforation of the uterus, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, intestinal obstruction and/or perforation, infertility, abscesses, erosion of adjacent areas such as the vagina, ectopic pregnancy and embedment in the uterus. Some or more of these injuries occur because the device may become dislodged and perforate or imbed itself into the uterus. It may also travel outside of the uterine cavity, which can cause scarring, adhesions, or more devastating, infertility.

Who may qualify for compensation for a Mirena Lawsuit claim?

Women who have suffered significant injuries following a Mirena implant may be entitled to compensation for their injuries. The merits of your case are based upon several factors including when your Mirena IUD was implanted, how soon afterword you suffered side effects, the types of injuries sustained and whether the device was surgically removed.

How to Hire an Mirena Attorney

Hiring an attorney is not difficult or expensive. Attorneys handling personal injury litigation  work on a contingency fee agreement. This means the attorney receives a percentage of the recovery received in the litigation. If there is no recovery by the client, then there are no fees or costs charged to the client. Consultations to determine whether a client has a case are also free. Women who have been implanted with the Mirena IUD and suffered uterine perforation, PID, ectopic pregnancy or other serious injuries may be entitled to pursue their claim against Bayer by contacting Ennis & Ennis, P.A. which continues to offer free, nationwide, confidential consultations to anyone who was injured by a Mirena IUD by calling toll free 1-800-856-6405 or by going to www.ennislaw.com and completing an online case evaluation form.
