Teen critically injured when ATV flips over in field

04/27/2008 - An Enid teen was critically injured Saturday when an all-terrain vehicle flipped and threw him off.

Timothy Wayne Harris, 16, was a passenger on an ATV operated by Adam Lee Ary, 21, about 8:20 p.m. Saturday in a field at Southgate and 16th, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. The four-wheel 2006 Polaris Outlaw was eastbound in a pasture. As it came over a hill the driver braked to avoid a horse and the vehicle flipped and ejected both driver and rider.

Harris was taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, where he was admitted with trunk, external and internal injuries and placed in the intensive care unit. He is listed in critical condition. Ary refused medical treatment.

Neither the driver, nor the passenger were wearing helmets, according to the OHP report.

The incident was investigated by OHP Trooper Kevin Edsall of the Garfield County detachment.
