Ennis & Ennis, P.A. Details the Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Metal Hip Recall

- Ennis & Ennis

07/09/2012 - Stryker Orthopaedics voluntarily recalled its Rejuvenate Modular and ABG II modular-neck hip stems. (http://www.aboutstryker.com/modularneckstems/) The recall was initiated due to the potential risks associated with modular-neck stems such as fretting and/or corrosion.

This recall comes as no surprise - in May 2011 the FDA issued an order for post-market studies to the manufacturers of metal-on-metal (MoM) hips. As these post-market studies continue, it is anticipated that more devices will be recalled.

Meanwhile, an FDA advisory panel convened last month and has yet to make a final determination as to how to advise physicians with how to care for MoM hip patients. Studies have confirmed that MoM hips suffer a significantly higher failure rate than metal/ceramic and metal/polyethylene hips and expose the patients to the risk of developing metallosis.

If you or a loved one has a metal-on-metal hip implant and have developed metallosis or the hip has failed, contact the lawyers of Ennis & Ennis, P.A. today for a free nationwide confidential consultation by calling toll free 1-800-856-6405 or by completing the online case evaluation form on this page.
