Stryker Hip Implants :
On January 22, 2008, the medical device maker Stryker announced that it was recalling two of its hip implant products. This recall comes of no surprise following the warning letter issued to Stryker's CEO/President on November 28th, 2007. The letter came as a result of the facilities inspection over the summer of 2007; in which the letter stated that if the products problems were not corrected then the FDA would take action.
What are the recalls?
The problems with the devices arose back in January 2005 by several complaints by consumers complaining of pain around the surgical area, uneven wearing of the implant, squeaky joints, and even improper fittings resulting in bone fracturing. Stryker has recalled these two hip implant components:
- Trident Acetabular PSL Cup
- Trident Hemispherical Cup
